The announcement explicitly says the new character requires activating the free DLC. Check that entitlement before assuming a save is broken. The update does not describe a paid character purchase or an ability-based unlock quest.
Does the character change combat abilities?
The developer says there are no unique abilities, only decorative differences from Morgan. Choose the character for presentation rather than an invented exclusive damage bonus. Cooperative players can choose different characters.
Where are appearance and co-op controls?
Body Split adds Morgan’s prison cell and moves the cooperative activator and appearance selection stand there. It also adds options to remove Morgan’s mustache and change the new character’s hair color.
